Book Clubs Discussion Questions


You're in a book club??!!! I am too!

At my own book club's suggestion, I've set up the following questions to get your book club discussion of Glass-Slipper.com off and running! Please feel free to e-mail me with any suggestions or comments.

I wish you hours of enlightenment, fun, and friendship as you gather and "discuss" all of your chosen books. My own book club, "The YaYa Sisterhood," tends to get silly and stray to topics other than our assigned book. I encourage these forays … for the sake of your souls. After all, it's about more than books!

Possible Discussion Questions for Glass-Slipper.com:


Did you like the book?

Did you identify with any of the characters? If so, which character, and why?

Did you identify anyone you know with any of the characters? If so, which character, and why?

Were the magical elements believable?

Have you ever felt "displaced," like Eileen at the beginning of the book, as in: divorce; the death of a significant person in your life; losing your home; or some other life-altering event? If so, how did you cope with it?
1) Avoidance and denial? "Things will take care of themselves?"
2) Taking charge and move on with your life?
3) Hope for someone to rescue you?
4) Ask friends and family for help?

Did the author give you a good sense of time and place? Was it easy to visualize Eileen's surroundings?

Was this your first romance novel? If so, does this book encourage to, or discourage you from reading more romances?

How does Glass-Slipper.com compare to other contemporary romances you have read?

How does the Glass-Slipper compare to other contemporary non-romance fiction you have read?

Did this book have a message? If so, what was it?

Which characters did you like and/or dislike? Why?

Whom would you "cast" as the characters in a movie adaptation?

If Eileen had tried to solve her problems on her own, without enlisting the help and advice of her friends, would the story have changed?

Does the setting figure as a character in the story? If so, how?

Did the characters have to make ethical/moral choices? Would you have made the same choices?

Do you think the outcome of the story is a result of the characters' freedom of choice or destiny?

Did you like the plot line development? Did the author make it credible?

What did you think of the ending?

Was there one element of the story you kept thinking about after you had read the book?
